I just ordered a set of the Oxfords OF693 based upon your post. Plan on installing a relay and then installing a switch for the head lamp.....good ideas......

Re: Heated Grips almost done
Goog idea with relay. I used it too (12V 30/40A).
I will buy automatic low beam switch: http://allegro.pl/polski-automatyczny-w ... 50636.html
It switches lights, when voltage reaches 13,4V

Re: Heated Grips almost done
I wonder about that particular switch. Reading the literature, it appears that once it reaches 13.4v the lights come on and can only be turned off again if you switch off the ignition. What happens if you reach 13.4v and then switch on the heaters I wonder? Seems that this switch might not solve the "problem" of reducing the demand upon the alternator when using the heaters on HIGH. The auto-switch might only be intended for initial start up.....I am not sure and will look further...I didn't know they made such a switch and thanks for the suggestion....

Re: Heated Grips almost done
I thought you wanted to switch off the headlight (during day) when using the heated grips, in order to reduce load on the alternator. If so, I don't think that "auto-switch" will work like that. I am not certain but thanks for the idea....

No, there is not need to switch of lights during normal usage heated grips.
I just want to switch them off, when ignition is ON, and angine is not running, because H4 uses 55W from accu, and it doesnt help for starter. Especially when you merge it with grips

I found this adjustable time-delay relay and plan on running both the headlight and the heaters though it. It will handle 10 amps and accomplish both tasks.....

Re: Heated Grips almost done
I just ordered automatic relay which turns on, when voltage reaches 13,4V. Lets count power usage when ignition is on, and engine is not running
55W - H4
21W - brake light
5W - rear light
5W - licence plate light
2*5W - front position light
5W - console light
50W - heated grips
together 151W or 100W without grips. It doesnt help for our starter when temperature is sub zero
