I have a 2006 and so a glovebox and thats where i made it in.
There is very little place to put it elsewhere on a 2006 and i even had to use the reduced size socket because there was no place for a full sized , i use a adapter cable to plug in my gps/phone.
Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with the package.

On the 2010 Sh there is room in the forward panel, about 6 inches above and to the left of that cargo/carry hook thingy down by your knees. Once you remove the panel you'll see space available below the fuse block and to the left of the wire harnesses, to accurately locate......I ran cable direct to battery with an inline fuse. Makes charging battery very easy with a Yuasa battery charger that comes with adapters that fit the DC socket too..http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-1011-12V ... =dc+outlet.....
