Accessories Announced for SH 150i

Post by BillShepard » Thu Jul 30, 2009 5:12 am

I came across this very lively review for the SH150 at Motorcycle.com
http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/ ... 88471.html which also included pictures of a windshield and matching trunk for the bike. It reported in the review that the accessories would be available by Fall at Honda dealers.

The Canadian model comes standard with the trunk.

I can't wrap my mind around the fact they're talking about charging 300 bucks for the windshield!

Did you expect any different? It's a Honda. Have you checked out the price of genuine Honda car accessories at any Honda dealer in Canada? It's not only outrageous, it's insulting as well. Aftermarket is the only way to go. I assume US Honda car dealers are the same as the thieves in Canada.

I have had many Civics and two CR-V's over the years, along with a VT750c2 motorcycle and a Metropolitan scooter, so "yes", I am painfully familiar with how much Honda accessories cost in the USA. Given the size the SH150i shield looks to be, it appears to be ridiculously priced, even for Honda.

For much less than the published cost of the rear trunk, I went ahead and got a Givi E370, since I could no longer wait for Honda to finally get around to releasing their own. At least the Canadians get the OEM trunk included with their scooter purchase.

The Givi shield for my Burgman was about $161.00. Those sized for the Vespa and other scooters this size, run about $143.0. Givi doesn't have a shield ready for this model Honda yet, and unless Honda sells a bunch of them, they may never put forth the effort to do so. If they do though, I'll be ready.

Our SH150i isn't so badly priced then. At $4999 Cdn the trunk is included. Your $4499 US price is $4800 Cdn without the trunk. That means we're getting the trunk for $200. However we have to wait until mid September for all the SH150i's to be modified in some Canadian warehouse to meet Transport Canada's requirements that it now doesn't meet.

Hey- at least the top case is cheap- way cheaper than a Vespa and only a little more than a rack+carrier for smaller Hondas.

givi has 2 sizes of windshields out now for the Sh150i - I have the smaller one and it is plenty big enough. See my other posts for part #s etc..
