Instead of a wrench what's wrong with a 6 pt socket, short extension, and a ratchet?

Is the O ring for the oil drain plug made of neoprene (rubber), copper, nylon, or something else? I will get some extras, but if it's not some special material then any auto parts store should have the correct size O ring at a price WAY cheaper than the OEM Honda part.Elvis wrote: Get some spare O rings for the drain plug, to have on hand in case it goes bad.
The Honda Part # 91303-ZW9-000 for a crazy $2.62 each.

That's because each one is made by hand in Japan, and then personally delivered to your dealer by the craftsperson.bigbird wrote: The Honda Part # 91303-ZW9-000 for a crazy $2.62 each.

I used Valvoline 10w30 synthetic. (5 quart jug at Walmart for $15!)/quote]
Was this a good choice?
Owner's manual suggests a non-energy conserving oil. I'm pretty sure the Valvoline you chose is energy conserving.

Re: My first oil change.
Did my first oil change today at only 100km. I did it so soon as the scooter was manufactured in April of '09, so that's now 1 year old oil in the crankcase. It was a light grey in color, but still transparent. The strainer did have some junk in it. It wasn't metal slivers, but more like flakes of something black.
Changing the oil on the scooter was horrible in terms of spillage. As everyone has already stated, the center stand is the culprit. I'm going to look for a long, narrow pan that will fit between the legs of the stand to catch the falling oil. The stand also somewhat interferes with tightening the drain bolt with a torque wrench. I managed, but it wasn't straightforward. I refilled with Shell Rotella T6 synthetic 5W-40, which is a heavy duty engine oil with the JASO rating as required by Honda.
My next mechanical addition will be a Yoshimura exhaust system. It is on order and I should have it in 2 weeks or so. I am looking forward to some exhaust bark, loss of some weight, and a couple more HP. I can't stand that catalytic converter inside the muffler. That thing gets outrageously hot and is quite dangerous to touch for many minutes after riding. The Yosh muffler has no cat converter, thank goodness. More to follow.

Re: My first oil change.
Thanks for the tip. I just did my 600mile oil change, and used Rotella T6 5W-40. Sounds like excellent stuff.

During the oil change we need to take care because the space is odd that will lead to oil to get wasted. It is to be carried out with the help of expert.

A new guy from New Delhi with the username of Davidmorgan744? Interesting. His command of the English language should be much better with a username of davidmorgan. I smell spam also.

Re: My first oil change.
I am in the process of making a quick-oil-change valve, i have all the parts except a new oil drain plug since i don't want to modify/break the one in my sh before i have a replacement.
It will be a 1/8"-BSP ball-valve(without handle) screwed into the drain plug by a 90 degree fitting, the valve itself will be capped at the end (for security and dirt) with a 1/8" plug.
Changing oil will then be: remove the end-cap, screw in a 1/8" hose connector with hose, open the valve and drain.
On progress i will post some pics.

Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with the package.

Re: My first oil change.
Just changed the oil on my SH105i, at 840 miles. Used a 17mm 6-point socket with a torque wrench. There was one small fleck of black stuff in the screen, that was it.
I saw the o-ring part number earlier on this thread.. I have the size if you want to look for a cheaper price:
O-Ring size: 31.2 X 2.4
Honda part # 91303-ZW9-000
