2010 sh150i removing bad gas

Post by coachcleaner » Sun Aug 09, 2015 9:19 am

HI. I just bought a used 2010 honda sh150i thats has been sitting for around 3 years. I am wondering if anyone knows how to get the gas out of the tank as it is bad... This is a fuel injected model. also wondering what i need to do to get it running when i do get good gas in it, as fuel injected system is new to me on a motorcycle. Thanks for any help.

I haven't ever dealt with draining the fuel and hope someone else 'here' will chime in. If not, I will look deeper into it and find the lowest point to dis-connect a hose.......

I strongly suggest that you obtain the "Factory Service Manual" for the SH150 that can 'normally' be found on e-Bay. It will make your Life easier now and in the long-run and worth the price......

I would 'guess' that you probably won't have to worry about the fuel injector. I notice that when I allow one of the 2 SH's I use to sit for a long period of Time, it takes a 'longer' bit of cranking and throttle manipulation to get it to start, making me think that the fuel and pressure to the injector is allowed drain-off or release. Just guessing.

Thanks TommyXP for the input... I have a factory service manual on the way. Ordered it when i got the scooter. Hopefully it will shed some light on draining it.

Ok, after three years the fuel wont be good anymore but did you alreazd try to start the engine ?
I would simply suck the old fuel out with a tube from the tank and fill it up with new fuel and start the engine  I dont see why it wouldnt start unless there is another problem with the engine
Let us know ;)

Just suck the old gas out by siphoning with a piece of garden hose. Put some fresh gas in and away you go.

Put the old gas in the family car and fill up at the same time as you buy the new gas for the scooter.

Also......considering that 'oil' is organic and breaks down over Time and you probably still have 'break-in' oil in the crankcase (change-out at 600 miles); If it were me, I'd consider putting in a quart of Royal Purple break-in oil for your remaining 475 miles.......what difference it might make, God only knows....

Thanks for the tips. I think I will try syphoning the gas out rather than unhooking any lines. the battery is shot but my 05 suzuki dr200se uses the same battery so i will try it this weekend and let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks again.

I am hoping that what you mean by "the same battery" is an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery, which must be used with the SH.......
Just checkin'.......
