J.Costa variator

Post by svebbe » Mon Oct 14, 2019 1:26 am

Hi,

I´ve just had installed a J.Costa variator on my SH300i 2008. Before this i had trouble with slipping from making a start at a redlight for instance. It felt like the belt slipped over and made a jerky feeling at low speed accelerating up. Since then i had the new J.Costa variator (and a new original belt) installed and i still can feel the same, but much less. My question is if that´s normal? Maybe it needs to be "run in", and it will be better by time. I had my mechanic install everything. I asked if he pressed the belt together in the middle when he installed the belt, and he says he did. Any one had the same issue?

To clarify, the clutch pad surface has been sanded with fine sandpaper.

Haven't experienced this issue but hoping that you also roughly sanded and thoroughly cleaned the clutch drum too.....

Yes, i asked the mechanic specifically about this. And he said he did so. I will check it out coming spring when its warmer outside (have no garage).
