Just curious

Post by scootzilla » Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:29 pm

Just curious to why they made the 2010 SH model with the turn signals sticking out unlike the older models with the signals built into the bike itself. They clearly left the spaces on the Sh but cover them with a thin grey plastic piece.

It has something to do with the USA regulations. They specifically moved them out onto the stalks for the USA and Canadian markets ... part of what took them so long to certify it for sale here.

Barbara is right. Our Elite 110 is the same way. Over in Europe it is marketed "The LEAD 100" and the turn signals are encased in the frame, here they are covered and replaced just like the SH. I'm surprised there aren't rear stalks on the SH for here.

The federal regulations state the turn signals on the front have to be at least 16" apart, and on the rear, they have to be at least 9" apart, as measured from the center of each bulb. In addition, the front signals have to be at least 4" from the headlight, measured edge to edge. If the rear signals are red, then there also needs to be at least 4" of separation from the tail/brake light edge and the rear signals. The flush mounts on the front don't meet these specs.

OOooohhhhh...
Well that does explain it. lol thanks all.

Are we able to add the original turn signals back on and just have dual sets in front?
I just really liked the flush look. ;)
