Re: SH300i transmission problem
New genuine variator is ordered. Variator set from Italy + drive pulley face from Germany. Next week should be here.
Now I'm focused on the bearings replacement. Today I checked the local Honda dealer for prices of all needed bearings...BUT they're too expensive. They want 100 euro for 5 bearings and I decided just to order a spare oil seal (6) for the driveshaft because there is possibility to damage it during the bearing replacement. I will try to find cheaper similar bearings.
I have to replace the following bearings:
1) 91051-KS4-003 - Radial ball 6303 /swingarm/
2) 91106-KM1-013 - Needle 14x22x16 /countershaft in final gear cover/
3) 91007-KTW-901 - Radial ball 6302 (15x42x13) /driveshaft bearing in final drive cover/
4) 91005-KPB-003 - Radial ball, 6205SPL (25x52x15) / driveshaft bearing in crankcase/
5) 91105-KTW-901 - Needle 14x22x20 /countershaft in crankcase/
What bearings can I use?
I found some analogs:
1) SKF 6303 2RS
2) SKF NK14/16
3) SKF 6302 2RS
4) SKF 6205 2RS
5) IKO/FAG/DURKOPP NK14/20
Do you think they are suitable?
About the needle bearings. Genuine ones don't have an oil hole, but analogs have:
Would it be a problem?

Re: SH300i transmission problem
For stuff like the vario the original is still the best if your not really interested in more performance as all these parts are a compromise, if you let the scale tip over to performance you also get the nastys from that like more fuel consumption, more wear, more noise etc tc.
Besides that: the sh300 is a very capable bike and not so easy to "improve", just sticking in another vario doesnt do very much measurable, it will "feel" faster but the stopwatch doesnt lie and there is not much difference.
The bearing look g ood, as long as the number is the same it is for sure 1:1 fit, if the number is different but size is ok there should be not much problems, the hole in the needle bearing doesnt seem to me of much importance if it is oil lubricated, the hole is there to accomodate injecting grease with a grease gun so not important.
The needle bearing is lubricated through the side hole in the case , oil drips at the back of the shaft or through the hole, it doesnt matter much where the oil is coming from.
If have just opened mine after hearing some noise and on mine the belt is also slightly rubbing on the case and my sh150 does the same.
The noise from mine appeared to be coming from the airfilter box which is a bit rattling due to vibrations.
Good job!, keep going! , you will be rewarded with a lotof fun and pleasure

Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with the package.

Re: SH300i transmission problem
6 new bearings in the final reduction and 1 in swingarm and there is still same gear noise over 40km/h. Probably have to replace the gears...
I installed brand new variator and genuine Honda Bando belt and still can hear some belt noise in the case during acceleration and deceleration. Very strange.

Sorry to 'hear' that too......
At least your in a far better position than you started, with the advantage that you better know what isn't the source of the problem.
I wish you remain strong-of-Heart my friend and success be yours.

Re: SH300i transmission problem
I wonder is it possible this belt to be directional? I haven't seen any arrows on the belt and now it is installed with the label readable when you are in front of the variator.

Re: SH300i transmission problem
Doubtful.......but maybe they forgot to highlight that fact in the SH300 service manual and on the belt itself?

Re: SH300i transmission problem
I have to say that with belt installed 'backwards' rubbing in case is much less.
Tomorrow I will have another set of used final reduction gears for try. Also planning to replace the bearing in beltcase cover.
BTW I already have 500km on the bike and the mpg is pretty good regarding the performance (3.4-3.6 l/100km mixed cycle).

Re: SH300i transmission problem
The "new" 2nd hand gears are installed and the noise is in the past.
Can somebody tell me what is the normal operation of 125/150/300's thermostat (19300-KGF-911)? Yes, it's the same for all bikes. Where is the arrow when you ride urban/extra-urban/combined cycle? Mine is usually at about 1/4 of scale and goes to 1/2 in traffic jam.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing.....
The thermostat begins to open @ 80-84°C (176-183°F).
Both of mine SH's temps indicate as yours does.
Normal = ¼ scale. Sitting/traffic = ½ scale and fan kicks-in.
