the clutch was the source of the rattle. I had a Polini 2G Clutch (adjustable) lying around, so I installed it and the rattling was cured. Unfortunately the clutch is not working well together with the original clutch bell. I have a slight "stuttering / bucking" (or what is the right word?) now when the clutch engages. So I ordered a Polini Maxi Clutch Bell (CNC-version) and installed it 2 days ago. Right now, we have rain here in Germany, so I was not able to go on a test ride yet.

Do you have the same problem?

I still got the guess that the original clutch bell was not perfectly round, thus the original clutch engaged "unevenly", resulting in a rattle. Because the Polini Maxi Bell is made of one part (and doesn't have a pressed on ring) it is not possible that it is uneven.

Lucky you if your problem has been caused by the clutch bell only.

I've changed the whole variator with brand new genuine one (genuine Honda belt incl.) and the belt is still slapping the belt case during acceleration with load. But I do not think to experiment with different types of bells or belts in order to find a working solution, will just ride it that way till buy another SH300. It's not economicaly reasonable to invest more money in this issue...

I still was not able to to do a test-ride yet (still around 0°C here in Germany).

I guess my belt is also "slapping" (original Honda belt) - I thought about buying a Polini kevlar belt. A friend of mine has this kevlar belt and it's not slapping anymore with it. His SH300 has more than 50.000 km on it, and it runs just fine (model of 2007 though). I compared the engines and they are identical.

I will write back once I am able to do the test-ride.

I made a few test rides the last few weeks. The "rattling" is gone with original clutch + polini cnc clutch bell.

What is still going on my nerves: the vibrations. I still have them at around 40km/h and 90-100 km/h and more.

My plan is to buy a polini variator with polini kevlar belt. If it doesn't work with it, I will sell my SH and get another one and use all my parts there.

Too bad nobody has experience with those kevlar belts (or at least did not write about it yet).

I found that pulling the variator apart and cleaning out all the dust etc has solved my shudder/rattling problems when taking off from start.

So i bought my SH300i (2014) with around 5500 miles and everything was fine. Now with 7200 miles on it, I can hear a "rattle / clacking" coming from the left side - especially when accelerating in curves. ...............

Feeling likewise here too......Why are we Americans being punished?
Though, I still find myself as pleased with the SH150 (that I use daily) as on the day I got it none-the-less.

With my present state of being; I am glad to be at any speed that provides balance.....
Seems I am not in a hurry to get anywhere any more. Maybe because I am already 'there'....
Still, it would be nice to know you have that bit extra in reserve....
