SH-150i Review

Post by honkerman » Tue Jun 16, 2009 9:30 am

I posted this on UrbanScootin', but since this forum is devoted specifically to the SH-150i, it seemed a good idea to stick a note about it here.

My local Honda dealer, Lancaster Honda, requested that I test ride an SH-150i and write a review. The SH-150i is everything one would expect of an Italian built machine.

Thanks for the 150i review. Here is a couple more a Canadian CMG Test 1 and Test 2 of three different 16 inchers. And an Australia review.

I have been commuting wtih mine now for about a month.. It is perfect for what I need. 35 to 55 mph, a 15 mile commute , with about 5 miles of city traffic. I just tried it out on the 65mph 4 lane expressway yesterday as an experiment and while it can manage it , it is not fun! I was relieved to pull off at the first exit. Into a light head wind it tops out at 60-65mph , I am 160 lbs. The wind pushes it around so you are drifting more than I am comfortable with. It is OK for a "no choice" short run but don't think you can drive this bike much above 60 mph and enjoy the ride, unless you are a thrill seeker.

All that being said it's a real blast to ride in traffic and on most two lane roads. That is what I bought it for so I am very happy with it. I would not expect two up riding to be much better than my expressway experience but I hate having a passenger on any small motorcycle.

All other things about the scoot I am very happy with and those favorable reviews online are true.

No Honda accessories available yet in the US, but my dealer got a GIVI windshield for me which is really so cool! It has a surround fairing which is not on the Honda one pictured. Can be seen online on the GIVI Euro site. My Honda dealer got it in 3 days. I will probably end up getting a GIVI trunk. Both are less than the Honda MSRP for those accessories.
